Research Interests

Filiberto Bilotti's main research interests include the analysis and design of microwave antennas and arrays and analytical modeling of artificial electromagnetic materials, metamaterials, and metasurfaces, including their applications at both microwave and optical frequencies. In the last years, his main research interests include the development of intelligent nodes for smart radio environments; the modeling, design, implementation, and application of smart skins and reconfigurable intelligent metasurfaces (RIS); the modeling, design, implementation, and application of a new generation of smart antennas (Smart Antennas 2.0) whose intelligence is brought by an intelligent metasurface based hardware; the modeling and applications of space and time-varying metasurfaces; metasurface-aided signal processing; the topological-based design of antennas and reconfigurable intelligent metasurfaces supporting structured field; the analysis and design of cloaking metasurfaces for antenna systems; the concept of meta-gratings and related applications in optics and at microwaves; the modeling and applications of optical metasurfaces; engineering metasurface non-locality and phenomenology of time-varying interfaces.
